Nose Options

I had a recent mishap that has left me in the market for a nose. I may just use a stock nose but I wanted to see the options that were out there. I dont want anything to outragous but a little more than stock.

Thoughts?

borkap 09-29-2008 06:06 PM

I guess I should mention the car is an NA

miatamania 09-29-2008 06:34 PM

The Racing beat Type II is extremely clean in person.

borkap 09-29-2008 06:36 PM

Yea I have seen them and I like them but they have been around so long. I am also scared of fiberglass.

thirdgen 09-29-2008 06:50 PM

I would be scared of fiberglass too. I had a friend who had a fiberglass front nose on his Acura and he busted it up so many times he finally took it off and said forget it. I think the Racing Beat Type I looks pretty much stock. Personally I love the looks of the Racing Beat Type II, if I had an NA that's what I'd go with!

I'm in love with all those. I like changing things up, but I'm really really REALLY not a fan of gawdy kits... At all. I just like things to look cool and different. These fit.

TonyV 09-29-2008 07:41 PM

Jared ur car be dope...lol
U should be collecting some $ from Cr.net using it as a banner dude...

Is the Rb1 also fiberglass or just the rb2?

Joe Perez 09-29-2008 08:04 PM

Manufactured from hand-laid fiberglass and easily prepped for final painting..."
Source: http://racingbeat.com/resultset.asp?PartNumber=57100

I'm gonna take a guess and say that probably somewhere very near 100% of aftermarket body panels are going to be fiberglass. The tooling cost to do OEM-style injection-molding is just going to be way too high for the relatively low volume of parts that even someone like RB can move.

borkap 09-29-2008 08:04 PM

They are both. I have only seen one that was urethane.

How about this one?

johndoe 09-29-2008 09:15 PM

there are a lot of options. If I ever felt like spending money on one and I didn't want the pitcrew nose I would get this one from s2 racing:

Yeah seriously. I want that. Could do a nice ducting oil cooler big radiator ducting thingy with that too. Lots of cooling space.

fahrvergnugen 10-01-2008 07:18 PM

I kind of like the look of that bumper... But tell me, what is different about those turn signals? They look different but I can't figure out why.

Vashthestampede 10-01-2008 07:51 PM

Its a rev 9? Sorry, but not quite. It is actually the RS Aizawa. They were about $700 when R-speed was first ordering them about 5 years back. I was on the list for one, but took my name off later after finding my now Bomex.

http://www.rev9autosport.com/shop/ga...s/aizawa/3.jpg

Very nice bumper indeed.

And for the record, those turn signals look to me like a pair of smoked ones off ebay.

What's next, a bodykit subforum?

borkap 10-01-2008 10:18 PM

Sorry I thought RS aizawa was the model and Rev9 was the maker. either way yea its in the 700 dollar neighborhood. I dont know that I am going to drop that kind of money on something that doesnt make the car perform any better. Besides there is a ditch or cone somewhere waiting to remove it for me anyway. OEM here I come!!

leatherface24 10-01-2008 10:40 PM

i had to mold the cwest bumper bottom half to the oem one. That rs aizawa bumper was what i was going to do a while ago but i just couldnt spend the cash. And yes, it is fiberglass

borkap 10-02-2008 12:15 PM

Yea I can hear is cracking already the first cool day I touch a cone with it.

hustler 10-02-2008 07:31 PM

if my car runs hot, I'll have to buy that.

disturbedfan121 10-02-2008 07:57 PM

????? Hustler is back?

locomonkeyboricua 10-02-2008 08:01 PM

dam that blue car looks nice. how much is that front? i know a guy that is going to cut his factory nose to make it look like that.

TonyV 10-02-2008 08:58 PM

725 as posted earlier

kotomile 10-02-2008 09:31 PM

I'm partial to a stock nose (get a what, <91 nose and you don't have emblem holes right?) with a Garage Vary lip. Not too shouty, especially if you don't paint it. Stay away from FRP though, even my GV is cracked, and it's urethane!

guess who's back in tha muthafucking house, with a fat dick fo ya muthafucking mouth.

my 1991 brg (big nose crank) has no emblem holes.

johndoe 10-02-2008 11:45 PM

1992 didn't either. I think it started in '93.

KPLAFIN 10-02-2008 11:48 PM

I think 94 is the year they started putting the toilet bowl on the bumper...same year the 1.8 started.

kotomile 10-02-2008 11:51 PM

Nah, 'cause my '93 used to have a toilet bowl on it.

I went and looked at a whole bunch of miata's for sale on ebay from 92, 93, 94 and it appears as though you are right and they started showing up on the noses in 93, not 94.

No. Should have a pretty positive impact on temperatures, think about how much more air is moving through there Better options? Yes, but that bumper sure as hell can't hurt.

johndoe 10-02-2008 11:58 PM

no, but by the time he gets around to installing it the engine will have melted...

borkap 10-03-2008 12:03 AM

Well I was wonder what was going on that the engine would get that hot. Its not turboed is it?

It's getting there..supposedly, see his most recent thread concerning the build.

AlexandertheOk 10-05-2008 04:50 PM

go for the widebody kit!

Stealth97 10-05-2008 05:16 PM

The RS aizawa bumper on the blue car used to me mine. It was good for 5-7 degrees cooler water temps than the stock bumper, if I recall.
