Now THAT was a bitch and a half

I just finished changing out my clutch, talk about a pain in the ass of a job...took me maybe 12 hours spread out over a couple of days, I had never done it before so I took my time to make sure it was done right, I guess it was because the car starts, and goes :)

I did it on jackstands under my carport with handtools...bleh
However, totally worth it.

Put in an ACT Xtreme Pressure Plate, Exedy Stock Disc, Jun Racing Flywheel ~9lbs. Seals, shifter boots and bushings

Car grabs a lot better than the poor stock clutch and revs quick as shit...I like it. I've completed just about everything I needed to do preturbo and she is good to go: Torsen, clutch/flywheel, etc . I can now focus on getting my megasquirt in and then getting the turbo in the car...

One step at a time...this shit blows...I'm totally ready for boost.

I feel ya, its probably about as difficult as pulling the engine, which I have done multiple times in the last year. Oddly enough I have never pulled the transmission alone up to now. congrats, i bet the car is much happier now

reminds me of my clutch job (when i had the 5speed) i pulled the transmission once put the clutch in. next thing i know the clutch wont disengage at all. i couldn't figure it out. so, i pulled the transmission a 2nd time, put my stock pressure plate back in (because i found a height difference between the 2) and same stuff... but this time i was able to get it to disengage. then about 2 weeks later, i killed the 5 speed. so, the transmission came back out again, and in went the 6speed. talk about some clutch fun! either i'm sure we're all glad we got it over with.

One guy I know decided it was easier to yank the engine and trans as a unit to change the clutch...

I dunno but the clutch job in a Miata is one of the easier ones. You just need a compressor, long extension, and a wobble socket.

I'm about to put the trans back in my vw for what I believe is the 13th time.

Fucking amazing. I love the way it feels...I don't know if its faster or if it just feels great.

I did all this on jackstands, hand tools, and 3/8ths tools because I didn't have 1/2" extensions.
