Octane booster, useful or snake oil?
Any one have any tech data with regards to adding NOS octane booster or any other brand to your fuel?
|
IT works but it takes a shit ton to make a difference racegas mix would be easier and less expensive.
|
i'm also interested to find out info on that. i havent heard much about it.
|
tourlene would be better and easier.
|
Well, I've read on various boards that it will help keep knock down in hot weather driving. Any truth to that? I'll be attending a track at Buttunwillow in August and track temps will be over 110 degrees. Just wondering if some over-the-counter booster will make a difference.
Edit: Check THIS out, Propane Injection: http://www.importpoweronline.com/propanecontent.html |
water injection seems...um..a tad safer?
|
i've seen them do a combo propane and nitrous injection, they used the propane as a fuel additive, and nitrous as an oxidizer.

i never had a prob with octane booster!

Torco octane booster from www.needforspeed.com. Best price I found and it is very effective. Cheaper than toluene, and not as toxic.

theres a formula out here, done by andy floyd, about how much to mix with X gallons of X octance gas to make X octane fuel....you can easy dump like 4 gals of tourene in and get like 110octane fuel. |

It would be (Octane Rating of Fuel A * # of gallons of Fuel A + Octane Rating of Fuel B * # of gallons of Fuel B) / total # of gallons in tank |
i know it's algebra, i just didnt know the formula and/or torlene octane ratings.

I didn't know any better when I bought my first FI'd Miata and filled it up with 87 octane gas on the way home (about 600 miles). I ran the tank to 50% and filled up with 93 oct and added a can of octane booster. Still pinged. Ran down to 50% again, filled with 93 oct and added another can of octane booster. Still pinged. That shit doesn't work! Adding a 12 oz can of something is completely different than adding a gallon or two of straight toluene.
