Oil in Compressor outlet - greddy turbo

Last night i was having some fun running with a new cayenne turbo s in a canyon full of twisties. As I was going for a pass I heard the sound of my blow off valve venting to atmosphere. Problem is....I don't have a bov. :loser:

After coasting to a stop, i found that the coupler had came off the compressor outlet and there was oil inside the coupler and also inside the compressor outlet. It wasn't a lot of oil, but it was very noticeable.

Is this normal on oil cooled/lubricated turbos? (as opposed to an oil/water cooled turbo) Or is a seal leaking?

The turbo is running fine, spools up great (6 psi by 3600 rpm) , but this also explains why I am burning a little oil.

Most likely a leaky seal. You can get a rebuild kit for a nominal fee.

Some oil in the intercooler tubes is complete normal and a good thing. If your cam cover breather is run to the turbo inlet tube, then yes, you should have some oil blow by. A lot of it? not really. A leaking seal will soak thru turbo hose and drip on the floor.

I do have the cam cover breather running to the turbo inlet. This makes sense. Thanks.

Sooner than later, I need to go for a ride in your car. Need to feel more boost to let me know what I'm missing out on.
