oil cooler sandwich plate
Im going to make my own oil cooler.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Mazda...spagenameZWDVW What do you guys think about this plate, I think it looks nice, but would it fit?
What are some guy not too expensive plates? |
There's lots of threads here on oil coolers and the accompanying parts. The haynes is cheaper ($35 w/tstat) and I couldn't see any difference between it and the mocal I have now. I just went for the mocal because it had 1/2" npt ports to go with my fat lines vs. 3/8" on the haynes.

Try and pick up one with a thermostat in it. That way, oil will not flow through the cooler until it gets warm. Warm oil=less wear on your motor.
EDIT: okay i didnt realize how expensive they were but here's one from FM http://www.flyinmiata.com/index.php?...0%20%201994-05 |

Got a link? Thanks. |
I looked into doing a DIY Cooler and filter relocation, added up all the parts using cheaper Twistlock hose and A/N fittings.. ended up over 500.00. Decided to buy the Moss Motors relocation and cooler setup. Its like 250$
|
I bought it from this eBay seller. It was $39 new. He doesn't have any with tstat, and it looks like the prices are up since the no tstat unit is now $35.
I had/have less than $175: $70 for -10 AN lines (brass fittings), $40 cooler, $15 in adapters and $40 in the sandwich plate. The system upgrade with the mocal plate and extra large mercedes oil cooler will end up being $70 more. And I can sell the small cooler and Haynes tstat sandwich plate. |

Where are those parts from? Summitracing? Earls?
Why is it better than the Moss cooler? Thanks Because you get a tstat, ss lines, a good cooler (you can find them for 50$ that have been used a few races that originally were 200$+) and awesome fittings. |
