i do. it is simple take off the old filter screw on the adapter plate run the lines and attach them to the other adapter plate add filter mount 2nd plate done. It is realy simple the supplied instructions with my kit were just that in a nut shell. All that the remote filter thing does is extend the ports via the lines to the new filter base location. think of it like this you have a t in your water hose where the water gets filtered with the filter relocation deal youve basically just added a lenght of hose between the length of the filter and the original hose.

I don't see why these are so popular. I have a 1.6 for now, and its easy to get to from the top. Is it different on a 1.8 or something?

The extra oil capacity is nice to have.

2 minute oil changew is nice as well for guys like us with big forarms the filter is still a little bit tough to get to. at least for me it was. :D

I have the kit from Moss. Not that big of a deal to install. I could never reach the filter from the top, so I always removed the wheel to get it off. It does make it a snap to change and there is never any spillage of oil on the floor or onto other parts of the car.(hate that)
For me, worth the 114.00 dollars. |

sometimes it becomes a pain in the ass to get under the car and rip the plastic dirt guard off...unless you can get it from the top...
i've seen some set ups where they relocate them behind the passenger side firewall....only thing i would be concerned about would be oil dripping from there and getting all over the place... problem solved with a towel underneith it though . |

I have the Thompson, with braided lines, I run a Purolator L20073 filter, order from Advance Auto. It is for a RX4, Almost an inch larger diameter, over 1.5 inches taller. Also the holes around the perimeter (where the oil goes into the filter) are oval, I computed 45% larger than the round holes of the stock filter. Not scientific, but more capacity, more filter material, less backpressure. Also I added an (oil cooling fins) aluminum heat sink to the filter which helps cool the oil. (JC Whitney) hey it works!
BUT Warning!!!! I had the braided hose installed too close to the A/C line. the hose wore a hole in the line and I had to spend 400.00 to repair it. Solution. Split a fuel hose and place over the A/C line. Or get a small piece of carpeting 2"x 5" or so and place between the braided hose and the A/C line. Make the carpet a color that blends in the area, nobody will notice it, and makes a great vibration buffer. |
