I buy brake cleaner by the case...it ends up being about 30 bucks for 15 or so cans...
Just use one and go nuts. |
Stop trying so hard. Just use any shitty engine cleaner. Use the whole can.

No worries. The back of the engine is really grimy, while its obvious that the CAS is leaking I dont think it is the cause of my drips.

Just use one and go nuts. And yes, the Super Degreaser is available mail order from various places. I got it from these guys ages ago (gallon lasts a while) http://www.autodetailingsolutions.ne...iler-line.html If you're feeling frisky, also pick up some of the Hyper Dressing and two spray bottles for the degreaser and dressing. That combination of products will make your engine bay look AMAZING with slightly more than zero effort. Dilute the hyper dressing to 3 or 4 to 1 so it doesn't look to greasy. |
After some closer inspection I am pretty certain that I am leaking transmission fluid. I have redline in it, and its that same kinda watered honey color, but it has no smell. It leaks for a minute after a drive then stops, and is cool to the touch. I am pretty damn confused by all this.
Trans fluid smells horrible.
Try tasting it. |
I have redline in it too, so it should smell like diff fluid. Does brake fluid stink? I put some into the clutch reservoir, but it doesnt look like any is missing.
Im seriously confused by all this. The car doesnt drive any different then usual. It drips a light amber colored fluid. That is cool to the touch. It only drips for about a minute after a drive. It appears to be dripping from the fork book, and is definitely driping from the weep hole on the transmission. I put some brake fluid in the clutch res. before driving the car yesterday, made about a 24 mile trip yesterday, 12ish one way. The clutch res. isnt any less full then it was, and I would say a good 5 or 6 ounces of fluid dripped onto my driveway. As I stated before I have redline in my transmission, which is diff fluid, so it stinks. Whats dripping has a very very very faint smell, that is definitely not diff fluid.
could be a leak somewhere else in the clutch line. stick your nose in the reservoir and smell to get a feel for the flavor.
Your thread sucks.
Taste the fucking shit. Stick your tongue in each of the reservoir then the puddle of leak. I am half joking but it would give you the answer. |
Fae is a post op that used to have oily drips all the time, so his input in this thread carries the most weight
So when I got home from work, about a 20 minute drive, half @ 50ish, half at 70ish. Not a single drip.
Congratulations, you cured cancer.

Does anyone have a picture of the slave still attached? Is it attached to the transmission?
if you pull the passenger side wheel off and look through the fender, you can see it just behind the suspension mounting point with a coil of hard line coming out of it. Yes it is attached to the bell housing just below the starter.
Bought a new one. Figured I should replace the clutch line as well, but cant seem to find any local. One place told me its just a brake line. Is that true? If so does anyone know the lenght and thread pitch needed?
So I bought a new slave, and a new SS braided clutch hose. Getting ready to do the swap and I was poking around the are trying to get a plan going. Anytime I poke the fork boot oil leaks out of it. Should there be oil there? IF not what would cause it to be leaking from there?
Started bleeding the clutch slave before replacement. Not the same color as whats leaking.
does this car have A/C and is it used a lot when you notice the fluid?
It has AC, but no freon. I dont even try to use it because I know it wont get cold.
