OMG there's oil everywhere.

So after fixing what i thought was the issue with a boost line running into the crankcase i've experienced the same problem. I was driving on the highway doing a normal pull when all of a sudden i felt a hesitation followed by smoke and the smell of oil instantly. I pulled over and immediately shut the car off and popped the hood. The dipstick was blown out and oil was EVERYWHERE and i really mean all over the entire engine bay. At this point i figured i was completely out of oil but the dipstick still read it had oil. I drove it home, parked it, and cleaned up a bit. Now it's been blowing blue smoke and burning oil but im thinking this has to be a PCV problem? Could it be something else im missing?

Sounds like it could possibly be a ring problem if not PCV related.

You blew the welds on the intake.. And it's not a PCV problem.

Murdermiata 05-31-2011 05:42 AM

Shit, I think I owe you a 10 second car. And yeah im thinking the rings are stuck or completely done.

sixshooter 05-31-2011 10:00 AM

Over-pressurized crankcase due to PCV or something and blew turbo seal?

BTW-- Are you running an oil line restrictor to the turbo?

Braineack 05-31-2011 10:06 AM

pressure in the crankcase. danger will robinson.

Murdermiata 05-31-2011 11:11 AM

There is a restrictor for the turbo and I dont believe a seal is blown. Im going to try and replace the PCV first. If not its time for the 1.8 to go in.

Danger to manifold!

Maybe try figuring out what happened before you put in a new motor?

Murdermiata 05-31-2011 02:07 PM

Well if its either PCV valve or rings I figured I wouldnt have a choice if its not the PCV causing the problem.

Murdermiata 05-31-2011 09:47 PM

Replaced the PCV valve. We'll see how this goes.

With an MSM specific valve from Finishline performance or some shop like there, there is no equivalent, btw.

Don't do that. Just stick your thumb in it.

sixshooter 05-31-2011 10:19 PM

Turbo car PCV valve :ne: naturally aspirated car PCV valve

Murdermiata 06-01-2011 05:09 AM

I suppose i'll have to do a little more research then.

You can start by reseaching my previous post and stop being a fucktard.

Compression test anyone?

Seriously. What is so hard about listening to a moderator when they are trying to help you?

Murdermiata 06-01-2011 04:12 PM

I totally missed that post, my mistake. Ive stopped driving the car altogether and am going to do a compression test this weekend hopefully. I didnt know about getting a specific valve for turbo applications but would have had I seen it. Again my apologies and ive already had a few people tell me my rings are shot.

Savington 06-01-2011 04:35 PM

I'd bet $10 that you'll be looking for a new shortblock. Hesitation + by significant crankcase pressure = significant ring/piston damage
