Painting car, want advice
My car is red and has been redone at some point since it's base / clear and IIRC NA's came in a single stage paint. I was intending to repaint it classic red, single stage with the black rockers like original but it's been suggested I should consider other reds and adding metal flake, this and doing a base / clear job.
This is being done by a relative who owns a body shop but I am doing all rust repair / panel replacement (with said relative's help / advice). The thing is, I like a stock looking car which my car is and my wife likes the idea of true red (NC miatas) with oodles of metal flake like newer cars have. I may not hate the idea of a non stock looking car if it's done well but I like what I have. Opinions away!! |
Get what you want, as its "your" car. Go to a local meet and look around for a paint color or style you like or the both of you can agree on. Fire engine red with powdered glass in the clear.

Every time I see a paint advice thread I get excited, thinking that MAYBE someone else on this forum enjoys body work and spraying cars and is looking for tips or tricks.
Then I come to the realization that I am the only retard that likes spending endless hours sanding and spraying my own car. As for color/style... choose a color, (red, blue, w/e) and then find the best possible car with that color (in your own opinion). There ya go Example.. I wanted blue. I chose Lotus Exige Magnetic Blue. I also looked at Subaru WRC blue Lexas ISF limited edition pearl blue ($$ and I couldnt get the paint code) Acura RSX blue some blues off of chevy pickups many many others BTW ill kill you if you go with the same color |
I do enough mudding and sanding on houses to do it on cars and I don't have that much free time.
