We'll assume you have a '91 Miata (though you didn't specifically say). I'll also assume that you competently changed the main fuse (this is the big one that's bolted in place).
What you say "I dont have any power in my main fuse", what does this mean exactly? You measure with a voltmeter and you have no power from either side of it to ground?

Well, there's nothing between the main fuse and the battery except for one large, black wire. It runs from the positive terminal of the battery, down along the passenger's side of the vehicle, and into the main fuse box where it terminates at that ring connector.
What's screwing with me, though, is that you say you've got "power in the lights", which I continue (without specific verification from you) to assume refers to the headlights specifically. The power for the headlights comes from the 30A "Head" fuse, and that fuse is supplied by the same wire that goes to the "Main" fuse.
(It's also distressing that something happened which was severely violent to blow the main fuse.)
Something just isn't adding up here. Are you absolutely sure that your test light is good, and that you've got a proper ground connection? To me, this really seems like more of a keyswitch problem. I'd at least pop open the steering column cover and take a look at the electrical connection to the keyswitch.

Like I said, if your headlights are working (and assuming somebody didn't rewire the system) then your main fuse is fine and your test light isn't working for you. This makes further troubleshooting impossible until you figure out why you aren't reading any power at the main fuse.
A cheap multimeter from Walmart, Radioshack or the auto parts store might not be a bad investment at this point.
