Pennzoil syncromesh?
leatherface24 from this forum told me that gm syncromesh was good for use in my trans. its 17 a quart so i looked around some more. i found Pennzoil syncromesh that says it meets standards and is equivalent to the GM. is this going to be a good option for me? also, can i use the same oil in the diff?

I use Penzaids in Synchromesh in my daily and it does a great job and it lacks the evil EP additives. It's the affordable option to Amsoil MTG, but when I put the 6-er in my daily it gets the good stuff.
You want a GL-5 "gear oil" in the rear end. There is a difference between "manual trans lube" and "gear oil". |
I've been using the Pennz Synchro all this year in my autocrosser. Granted the car doesn't take long term abuse, but it shifts very very well now.

how often do you change it? so something like this will work in the diff?

Really 100k? Lol ok. Thanks

You want to use a good GL4 in the trans. I like GM syncromesh, which is not the same as Penzoil syncromesh.
If you have a 5 speed, it will likely eat either and not care. If you have a 6-speed, then pop for the GM stuff. I've used Mobil, RedLine, and RoyalPurple in various diffs. All seemed fine. |
i usually change mine every year.
edit: but i track it alot.... in terrible heat. |
Do you have a 6 speed or 5 speed? The 5 speed will take just about anything. The 6 speed needs GL-4 oil. Most of the track guys run Amsoil MTG. Pm and I can get you contact info for where you can get amsoil at cost.

All of our cars get Amsoil MTG in the tranny, SVG in the diff.
