Physical size of 1.6 vs 1.8

Its getting closer and closer to fabrication time for my build... and I wanted to cover one base before I start...

How much longer is the 1.8L motor vs the 1.6? I want to ensure, that if i ever go 1.8L... the vmount setup will be far enough forward that the longer motor will have room to fit.

So... anyone know off hand how much more room the 1.8L needed?

Not sure exactly, but with my 1.6 accessories on my 1.8, my air conditioning pulley/clutch is within 1/4 inch of my RB Solid sway bar. The silicone hose that connects my TB to my intercooler pipe is also scrunched a bunch while on the 1.6 it was nice and smooth.

Check solomiata.... Randy posted the size and dimensions of both the 1.6, and the 1.8.....

It should be pretty easy to spot.... The only other consideration, is how the 1.8 sits in the 1.6 cradle. I've heard, but I have yet to prove that it sits marginally further forward. Although, maybe getting the 1.8 mounts would move it back to the stock 1.8 location.

My stock 1.8 has about 1.5 inches before the crank pulley would hit the larger RB tubular bar. I can get a short socket on the nose, but it's a tight fit with some different rachets.... <G>

I'm sure the car will be more than fun enough with the 1.6... I'm just leaving myself some room for later :p
