Default CX racing radiator with FM TB spacer?

my rad is leaking so im trying to decide if i want to get a stock replacement or a thicker aluminum unit off ebay. my only concern with the thicker radiator is that i have a flyin miata throttle body adapter, and it's already fairly tight with the stock rad....

anyone have a 1.8 swapped car, with a thicker radiator?

i think i could make the thicker radiator work. i dont have AC, so if i go that route i'm going to put one big-ish slim fan in the middle of the rad...

here's what i'm working with right now. why is the stock fan 2x as thick as the radiator???

Stupid question, why do you need the spacer?

So I could use my 1.6 throttle body with the 1.8 intake manifold

Hmmm get a 1.8 TB, or you could go with slim fans; which ever one suits your pocket better.

Go with slim fans, but two side by side would be a lot better than just one and not much more money. On the upper radiator hose, shorten the section between the radiator and the first bend and that will give you some more clearance. My two cents.

the neck on the radiator there is ridiculously long. i dont think i could free up much more room there without actually trimming the rad. if money weren't an issue i'd have a custom rad made with the outlet on the other side....

I remember now I had that same problem with my old inlet hose setup before I did the v-mount thing and the reroute. There was a hose I found that curved back towards the radiator tank then back towards the water neck on the front of the engine. It gave me a bit more room. I do not know what car it was from. I found it while browsing through the hoses behind the counter at Auto Zone.

Just throwing ideas out there.

I have the same setup as you and running a CX Racing radiator. I had to cut the radiator hose short and fit it in there. I also trimmed the elbow a little.

I will. It might take a day or two. The car is parked in its home away from home.

Probably the best solution. Get the right throttle body and ditch the spacer.

if he has a stock ecu 1.8 tb is not an option. the iac is different and wont work properly with the 1.6 ecu. he would have to go megasquirt.
