Picking up my first miata tomorrow

4 Attachment(s)
1994 M Edition w/ 108,000

I'll be picking it up tomorrow for $1,800 and this will be my first project car. Do you guys think this was a deal or no?

Is there anything I should have checked out immediately? Are there any known 94 M Edition problems?

I'll give you $2k for it right now.

You got a helluva deal sir.

Edit: Is that a factory paint job?

ciacciojon 02-28-2013 05:52 PM

Well that makes me feel better. The paint is really rough (last owner did a spray paint job) and I'll be getting into redoing that soon with this color

This is my second car so my goals will be to scour the forums for sale section until I find the components for a cheap turbo install.

OK. Spray paint job then it was just a good deal, not an incredible deal. I kinda blurted that out, then started looking at the pictures more closely :noob:

Still not a bad deal. I'd still give 2k for it :giggle:

Welcome. Plans for boost?

ciacciojon 02-28-2013 07:11 PM

Boosting for sure.

I want to get the suspension, wheels/tires, and body/paint dialed in first though.

Congrats on the purchase (first of many). Welcome to the group. Keep us updated on the project and have fun.

Congrats! If you are on a budget, be careful of the "while I'm down here I should probably upgrade this..." situation.

Nice looking car! Getting a 1994 starts you off on the best NA platform. You get the 1.8L, torsen differential and working oil pressure gauge. If the mechanicals are in good shape, you picked a good car.

Looks like it has a tint band on the top of the windshield. Once the insurance is vetted make sure "a rock flies up on the freeway" and you get glass with no tint.

ciacciojon 03-01-2013 11:33 AM

What's wrong with the tint band? Forgive my ignorance.

Leafy 03-01-2013 11:35 AM

That 10% of the windshield that is tinted is also the part of the windshield you look out 80% of the time.

Driving the Miata is probably the only time ever I feel lucky to be a short mofo.

That tint strip looks pretty thin to me. The color almost looks like 10AE blue
