poll: powerstering

do you have p/s on your miata? which do you prefer and why?

i had p/s on red car and it was fun. white car has no p/s and i like it that way much more. i can finally get at least SOME workout!

wes65 03-29-2008 01:50 AM

I just looped the lines on my ps rack and i love it. Not too hard to steer and much more feedback.

wow, it must be late, i typed that then clicked YES on the poll. LOL anyway, -1 from the yes column

Bryce 03-29-2008 02:05 AM

Looped the lines and never looked back.
Put this in your sig...

No power steering:
It's like doing it without a condom. :)

Good metaphor, quoted for the truth.

I looped the lines on my 90 as well, love it.

Powerstering FTW. I couldn't drive without it. All you no PS, no A/C on your DD are nuts. I'll sacrifice 2hp and 20 pounds for PS on anything.

UrbanSoot 03-29-2008 03:04 AM

i have a/c and no p/s. my a/c is disconnected...

driftbandito 03-29-2008 03:36 AM

power steering b/c it is far superior

wildfire0310 03-29-2008 03:45 AM

I looped the lines and are loving it, i am still debating whether to remove the A/c or get the part I need to run A/C w/o P/S

UrbanSoot 03-29-2008 04:00 AM

im keeping my a/c. i will REALLY need it in 2 months or so..

jim-NA 03-29-2008 05:36 AM

+1 for powersteering.

I've driven an MX5 without P/S and did not like it, anyhow I'm used to the feel from the P/S now. The A/C on the other hand can go take a dump!, i mean do I really need A/C in the UK??

No.

johndoe 03-29-2008 08:43 AM

looped the lines and love it. I will be reconnecting the A/C though.

04 Miata 03-29-2008 09:07 AM

I have 1 that came from the factory without PS and 3 that did. Wish all 4 had no PS.

y8s 03-29-2008 10:34 AM

01 with ps feels just fine in terms of feedback. course i do run a lot of caster.

///tonic 03-29-2008 10:42 AM

Definitely no to both.

Not my DD though.

jasonrobo02 03-29-2008 11:19 AM

Just a heads-up for anyone looking to delete PS but keep the AC:

ebay #280212669314

I think Rosenthal Mazda sells these new for ~$99.

edit: This isn't my ebay auction, but I did buy one from this seller for really cheap.

Vashthestampede 03-29-2008 11:22 AM

No PS from the factory for me. :) And mine is my DD.

The miata is definitely a car that doesn't need power steering. If my ex was able to drive the car around well enough that says enough. Power steering in a miata is for little guys....or lady girls... :giggle:

Vash-

I got board 1 day and removed p/s , a/c , elec windows and heater, just av to try it now wen its runnin again .

rleete 03-29-2008 12:59 PM

I had no p/s, but removed it, and bought a powered setup. The effort was so much that the previous owner destroyed the steering wheel - separated the cover from the core.

After removing the unpowered rack, I'm debating whether to put it back, or depower the new unit. I think the steering effort may have been too high due to a bad alignment, as the car didn't want to stay on track very well. It wanders when centered.

Should I just loop the lines, get it aligned and try it that way? I'd hate to depower the rack, only to find out I prefer it the other way and have no way to restore it.

Milton Tucker 03-29-2008 01:24 PM

The 90 has P/S and AC, the 91 came factory with AC but no P/S. I am considering a AC delete.

urgaynknowit 03-29-2008 01:43 PM

i had a civic with no power steering, and it was great, my arms were sore the first few days, but i got used to it, now my miata has power steering, and i kinda like it
