Is it possible to keep a turbo Miata running forever with good care?

Do you think it's possible to keep a turbo NB Miata (~250 whp) running forever if you keep replacing broken parts, don't abuse it, don't drive it in the snow, always park it in a garage and in general take really good care of it?

With enough money can keep anything running forever

Forever's a long time. Eventually our sun is going nova and the Earth will cease to exist. Maybe by then the OP's descendents will have put his Miata on an interstellar transport for safe-keeping. Of course, in the longer term, expansion of the universe is posited to cause stars, planets, atoms and even sub-atomic particles to disintegrate. Bottom line: It's all futile.

Just be sure to invest in a few bottles of Slick 50

AIUI, the Big Rip is one possible end to the universe, but generally not thought to be the most likely one at this point.

Yeah, but, then all you have to do is:

And it'll still be fine.

Please help me understand this:

What does "keeping it running forever" has got to do with
a) avoiding snow, and
b) always parking the said car in a garage?

Damn, I have a rod knock. Should have parked it in a garage, said no one. Ever.

Today I realized that I'm very stupid.

Nah, I'm very new to cars and tuning so I deserve it. I know nothing except how to drive a car haha. Looks like I have a metric shit ton of things to learn before attempting to do something with a miata.

Yes. Read and learn for a year. All while doing basic maintenance to your car so you can get to know it. After a full year then you can come back with a build thread and a plan.

100% yes as you described. Here is how you do it.

I was just about to post this.
If you keep replacing parts is it really the same Miata?

DeerHunter 02-13-2018 10:55 PM

Every atom in my body has been replaced since my birth (and probably a few times since). Although a touch more decrepit, I still feel fundamentally the same. Perhaps there's a lesson in there somewhere.

You think you still feel fundamentally the same but you are thinking that with different cells than the ones that originally perceived what you felt like.

You kids get off my lawn!

I like this guy. not sure why, but good attitude. You will go far if you dig around this place, get out and start learning to wrench. Everyone fucks up cars, even experienced mechanics. The key is to get good at un-fucking, like learning how to deal with stuck or broken bolts/studs/nuts. Confidence before starting a job is key, even if your only confidence is that you WILL be able to figure it out...eventually.
