Cost to turbo/SC an NB Miata?
Hello, a very quick question because I just sold my 600hp Nissan Skyline GT-R and I got a pretty good offer for a 10th Anniversary NB Miata. I have always loved Miatas but in my opinion they lack some power.
So my quick Q is: how much will it cost me to turbocharge/SC an NB Miata to around 250-300hp? I am planning to do this with stock internals as the car will not see WOT very long (just a town cruiser, won't go to the tracks).
I don't need an exact budget, rather an approximate in thousands of $ will work just fine... I assume 3000-5000$ but I may be wrong? (Megasquirt, charger/turbo, IC, exhaust, fuel pump, injectors and all the lil bits)
I don't know much about Miata tech so that's why I'm asking. Also is there a FAQ somewhere about what needs to be changed at around certain HP? For example, when should the fuel lines be replaced for larger diameter lines etc...
EDIT: just to clarify, I can do 90% of installing and fabrication myself so I'm just looking for an approximate cost of the parts.

FM2 no electronics kit ($3000), MS3 basic (1050), clutch, wideband, boost gauge (what, $500?). So $4550, figure another $500 or so for other bits (radiator? heat shielding? better brake pads?).
So basically, what he said ^
Oh, and this was a seriously lazy-*** post on your behalf sir. This has been covered a million times.

Couple points:
1) Yes the Miata is light and yes it is aggressively geared relative to most modern cars.
It will be and feel slow next to the GTR, Just FYI. In the lower gears it will feel damned quick with 300WHP. But these cars run out of punch a lot faster than GTRs. There was a funny observation around here regarding the TX mile races that the GTR crew starts their runs about where our cars run out of gears.
2) This is not the type of forum where asking for exact budgets from people or asking for spoon-feed info at all is going to go over well. About 90% of the time it results in threads that you can find via the search function with 'eggplant' as a search term. This is as nice as it gets. Again, just FYI. I think your ability to properly compose a message has a lot to do with it. People here don't ask for Keats-level prose, but the proper use of capitalization and periods helps.
Finally, there are a few ways to get to 250-300 WHP, and you are vague as humanly possible. The easiest way is probably a turbo setup with something like a 3071 or EFR. Probably a nice Artech hot side setup, good FMIC, MS3, attendant fueling mods (injectors and pump), and of course 6 speed/clutch/torsen as needed. you will pretty much certainly want to upgrade rods and pistons to be reliable at that power level, though some people will go there without if they don't really worry about blowing up too much. And yeah, that's a 5K plus proposition for most people.
I suggest you look over some of the parts I mentioned and figure your own budget. As nice as this thread is, nobody is going to price out your mod list for you.
