Power Steering to manual rack?
So im on the quest of making my miata the best it can be on the track... due to unfortunate mishaps i need a new transmission and i (probably) need a new turbo.. I would love suggestions on which turbo to buy....
Back to the topic... does anyone know if to make a power steering car a manual do you remove the power steering box, and the pump? is there a bypass? or do i have to remove everything including the rack and put in a manual steering rack? |
Do a search on powersteering depower for more info. You remove the pump and get a idler pully if you have A/C still. Then you loop the lines on the steering rack. Or you can do the FM method for the depower and remove the main seal in it.
What manifold/downpipe are you using. Can't recommend a turbo if we don't know your specs. What's wrong with the current turbo? Here is the idler: http://www.finishlineperformance.com...cat=315&page=1 |
removed A/C, and thank you
Im throwin my manifold and exhaust in the shitter cuz i had problems keeping the turbo on the car and the exhaust itself was a 2.5" im going 3" it kind of shit the bed, plus im looking for something new, and i dont know what kind it is, i was told t3/t4, but i looked at it, and it sure as hell isnt... it mounts parrallel to the block and the vibrations are breaking the turbo bolts |
Pics? Sounds like a FM/BEGI manifold, you can just upgrade to 10mm studs man.

trust, i own a machine shop, ive gone through so many options, ive put bolts on there that hold jet engines together and withstand the heat, brazed them on and they still break/come loose (last one broke all 4 braze and the turbo fell off) def not a BEGI, its straight out, the mounting surface for the turbo is parallel to the mounting surface on the block
|
That is what a BEGI looks like. That is what you are describing to me.

that doesnt look like it at all, the design is off, it looks like a normal manifold only it jets straight out and has a flange to mount up to
