Preferred Torsen: Type I or Type II?
 

So my donor car has a Type II torsen in it.

The 94 I'm rebuilding has a Type I.

Trying to decide which to keep and which to sell.

I'm told Torsens don't wear out with mileage, but in case that should factor into the decision the Type II has 75k miles and the Type I has 165k.

I don't expect to go past 250whp with my build.

Which Torsen would you keep, and why?

I'd rather have the Type I; more emphasis on acceleration. While the Type II would be better if you tend to lift within a corner. ;)

t2 if you drive on the track with real rubber, supossedly its easier to keep on the track when all hell breaks loose, but I don't know if there's any validity to the rumor.

yes it's true. It's more forgiving because it has more emphasis on locking during deceleration. With a type I or clutch type, if you lift in a corner you will most likely end up in the dirt. Since acceleration out of corners is where a lot of time is made, I'd rather have a diff that locks when you give it hell.

Hmmm... Just using it for screwing around on track days and not seriously competing, perhaps the type 2 is the way to go.

Your lap times are more likely going to be determined by the mistakes rather than hitting the line perfectly every time.

I'm less than a stellar driver and I'll take anything that'll gloss over my mistakes :)
