Pressure Testing the system, TB is pissing out boost
Its not the first time Ive seen it, DSM Throttle Body seals usually fail after many years of use as well. Tried searching to see what people do, but couldn't find any results..
So while pressurizing the intake tract, the boost is leaking out of the Throttle body, a considerable amount as I reach 10lbs...as I turn the throttle plate, the hiss changes tone, so its the o-ring seals that are leaking. Whats usually done to cure this problem?? Are there any replacement seals or do people usually just swap the entire TB? Thanks, Nomie |
TBs are cheap, just get a new one.

a new 'used' one? It may have the same problem..mine is relatively low mileage..78k original miles! :D
A Brand new one can't be cheap I imagine... |
High pressure shaft seals are indeed the solution. Dunno if anyone makes them for the Miata though.
I suspect this is a more widespread issue in Miatas than people know. |
