Quick one on wiring waste gate open
So I know I need to comp and leakdown test since car smokes significantly under boost now (but it's not convienent to do these tests at the moment - so I've been driving and staying out of boost and all is well but very annoying). Can I just wire the wastegate open to test the motor ? This would effectively eliminate turbo seal no ? by taking the turbo out of the picture effectively? If it still smokes when stomping it would def be motor and yeah back to new or rebuild motor time which I'm expecting to do anyway, if no smoke then it's time to look at the turbo - either way at least the car is driveable this time :-)

You'll still get into boost if with gate wired open. There's two ways to remove the turbo from the picture 1. remove it from the car 2. remove the the compressor and center section as an assembly, leaving the turbine housing in place. Then build a blanking plate that you can bolt in to cover the turbine hole. If you ran a t3, I'd send you my plate and save you some grief.

I couldn't log more than 2psi when i had my arm removed....and this was only between like 6-7K.

And I saw 7psi

Mine won't go into boost, just 0 vac. Of course, I'm not driving the hell out of it since the massive blow-by is issue for concern :(

Type of wastegate makes a difference here I think. Internal, ported, external...

There's not a problem running with the wastegate disconnected for longer periods, right? Like... for winter with snow tires or something? (Probably won't do it, but wondering if it's an option)
