Random wet track driving video - Me and Andrew

Speed Ventures red group Dec 23, 2012. Me in Crusher (PTC) on full tread 205 RA1's, Andrew Kidd in Trackspeed's Rover (PTE) ahead on 205 Hoosier DOT wets. Instead of running the much faster 240/580/15 Conti Grand AM wets I brought, I thought running on RA1's would equalize us a bit. Turns out Hoosier DOT wets are way faster than RA1's. The closest I ever got was when we left the pits as he puts about 2.5s per lap on me and checks out. Scared myself a few times trying to keep up. Nearly flat through Riverside. Good fun.

very nice video. rain driving flat out separates the boys from men

probably a silly question, but what is that blinking light on the roof?

Dome light. Door switch out of adjustment I think. Or it could have been my "not flatout" warning light.

It is great to have such a dedicated miata enthusiast on so many miata forums. Keep up the great work Emilio.

Wow, awesome. LOL at "not flatout light"

No rainx?

Both cars have RacingShields hard-coated polycarbonate windshields which shed water better than a glass shield with RainX.

Not bad for a couple Californians.

Needs to rename thread... "Random wet track driving video - Me and... well, just me"

Envious - very nice driving on RA1s... still next best to hoosier or conti wets?

Conti GA wets vary. My set is marked 225/45/15 but measure 240mm across the contact patch and are hand cut. Those tires are spooky good in the rain and significantly better than my 205 Hoosier DOT wets ( same as Andrews). The RA1 is a great budget wet tire but not on the same level as purpose built wet race tires.

Waiting for Andrew to post his video. Earlier in the session he was behind me for a few laps but I was clearly holding him up. He says he got one or two laps behind me with Crusher slewing all around trying to open a gap.

That sounds like a good video. Post it up Andrew.

Love these videos.

I'm curious. On average, how many seconds are added with a wet track?

Processing my video now, I'll have it up in a couple of hours.

Impossible to give a single number - depends on the track, how wet, and what car. My best lap at BW 13CW in Rover in the dry is a 2:01.9, and I had a 2:18.xx in the wet with no changes other than the tires.

Just what I was looking for. Thanks.

Video's still uploading but it will be live soon. Too much fun.
