Default Documenting your driving experience?

What's the best way to do this? When I go to an event with different clubs, how can I give them an honest idea about my driving experience so they can place me in an appropriate run group for the event? It would also be nice to have a way to document this additional track/instruction time.

Either a list of events you've done in each group or list each track with seat time measured in hours.

I found that some clubs don't really care. PCA is the was the worst about me showing 60-hours of seat time and putting me in the "intermediate group" because I had a Miata and flagging me because I was driving "too fast."

I keep an Excel file with the event dates, organization, what track and which configuration, name of my in-car instructor, name of the classroom/head instructor, etc. I should add a column for hours of track time so I can keep a running total, both for myself and for the car. It's good to keep track of instructor names so you can have somebody verify your experience if asked. That won't come up for a novice or intermediate (number of tracks days is usually all they ask), but some clubs might want to check up on a new (to them) person signing up to run in advanced/solo, and will definitely check if you're applying to instruct.

Laptimes are best. Tell them what you normally run at X track and any half-decent club (even a club that doesn't do timing) will place you in the correct group.
