Re route clearance issues

I need help with the routing of my upper radiator hose. There just simply is not enough space to turn to the passenger side when you come off the radiator and still clear the TB intake pipe. See the attached pics. Sorry they are crappy ones.

My only option appears to come off the radiator towards the driver's side and then route the hose above the intake manifold to the back of the engine as my crappy sketch shows in red. I have searched and have not seen anyone else do it like this. If I do go this route I will be making a metal pipe with welded brackets to support the coolant line.

The problem is aggrevated by the fact that I have a 1.8 in a 91 car with a 55mm radiator. This places the throttle body pipe right by the radiator inlet. I already trimmed 1" off the trottle body pipe to give it a little more room, but that just gave me enough clearance to not rub when I run the hose to the driver's side as shown in one of the pics.

The other option I considered was coming off the radiator, turning towards the driver's side and down and then loop underneath the throttle body and intercooler piping. I can then route the coolant pipe on the passenger side if the intake manifold like most people do. I will have to go to the parts store and see if I can find a hose with the right geometry or make a metal pipe. I would prefer not to do this since it will be turning where the idle air hose and air temp sensor is fitted.

Ideas and pictures would be greatly appreciated, especially from someone that has done this on a 1.6 car with the longer 1.8 installed along with a fatter radiator.

EDIT

Do something like this. It should weave in between your upper piping.

I ended up frankensteining a custom hose that made all the right turns and took it to Autozone to see what they had on the rack. I found part # D71314 that only needed to be cut and rotated 180 deg in one spot to route the coolant line the way I needed it.

Dayco/Hose (Upper) (D71314) | AutoZone.com_

See the attached pictures for where the cut was made. It now comes off the radiator, clears the TB pipe, comes over to the driver's side then does a 180 back to the passenger side. This places the line below the IAC air tube and other interfering TB parts. I can now make a hard line to run to the back of the head.

All you have to do is click on the pic you uploaded to MT and copy the url. Then click the yellow image icon with the mountains on it and paste it into your post. Voila!

Now that hose looks a little goofy but hey all reroutes look goofy if you ask me. If it works thats all that matters in my opinion. Im not sure if that will make it harder to burp or not but if you use the lisle funnel you should have an issue.

Thanks! Only took 8 years to figuire out how to post pictures properly!

Right now I am not creating any local high points and the radiator cap is still the highest point. I am placing the coolant temp gauge sensor close to the back of the hardline rigth after it comes off the engine so I have one more point to burp it.

Trust me the funnel is well worth it ask Hustler, dude swears by at and is right. I was over heating no matter how much I burped. The only proper way to really burp the miata well is that funnel. It will pull every ounce of air out of the system.
