Default 3.63 install problems

I installed a 3.63 ring and pinion today. I swapped all of the necessary parts over and can't get the damn gears spec'd right. My numbers are within the writeup specifcations on the miata.net diff R&R, but I know how it should spin and feel and it doesn't feel right.

I've swapped open diffs to torsen with no problems specing it, but this ones giving me problems.

Any help is appreciated.

Call John Long (or Dan P) here:
http://www.automotive-specialist.com/

They installed the 3.63s and torsen I purchased for my car a couple of years ago.

I figured it all out the next day.

The badass Cornwell impact I was using didn't have enough torque to pull the pinion into one of the bearings. I switched to a 1/2" electric impact and it pulled it right in with no problem and I spec'd the diff perfect.

i couldn't have done this without a work table, vise, air tools, and a shop press.

If any of you guys are interested in having your diffs built, lemme know.

The nut came off relatively easy with my 1/2" craftsman impact. I would guess roughly 220 ft lbs, since 220 ft lbs put it back into spec.

The max torque rating on the electric impact I used said 220 ft lbs. That's what I'm basing it on.
