rebuilting my engine with forged internals. Is belfab the only option?

Firstly I am in the UK

Valve stem oil seals are on their way out so I bought a spare 1.6 engine which I am going to strip and build. I will be getting an engineering company to build the bottom end for me.

I am wondering what options I have for parts? Belfrab Racing's kit seems pretty complete but I wondered if I could do it cheaper? Am I paying extra to belfrab for the convenience they've put all the bits together?

I look forward to your input

cheers

Their kit is actually pretty cheap by bundling everything together. You would be hard pressed to find NEW parts cheaper.

Guess I won't suggest FM.

Belfab is definitely the best bang for the buck on internals... I haven't heard of anyone destroying their pistons/rods yet and they are far cheaper than the competition's

belfab is a great deal, I wish I had the time and $$

Belfab is a great deal, but you could also look at FM Weiscos and ETD rods. You'll spend a bit more but the quality is better.

Whether it matters that your motor will do 600whp vs. 500whp is up to you, though.
