Reinstalling AC without PS - belt situation?

Just bought a 94 DIY turbo and the po removed AC and PS. I plan to put the AC back in (he gave me all e components) but the belt is obviously made for the PS pulley as well as the AC compressor, so without it there I need a new belt or to install the ps pump just to function as an idler. What's the best way to go about this?

Factory w/ a/c w/o p/s idler pulley.

As kplafin said, you can buy an idler pulley that installs where the PS pump normally would go. It's sole purpose is to tension the AC belt. You can get it from your local dealer or they pop up on ebay and forum classifieds sometimes for between $50 and $100.

Thanks for the responses guys. The po also gave me the ps pump, any reason I couldn't just install that without hooking it up as an ad hoc idler pulley? I'd love to bank the money that the special "dead weight" idler pulley is going to cost. I'm not racing this so I don't mind the extra couple pounds.

you can do it this way just make sure to gut the pump or fill it with fluid and make a way to loop the lines on the pump or risk it seizing up

Get the correct tensioner pulley and forget about it. Life will be much easier for you.
