replacement hose brake booster line intake manifold 99
So finally got my car driving after a year. Trying to tackle some maintenance. Was trying to replace a vaccum line in the back of my intake manifold and found the part to be discontinued miata NC10-43-481.
https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...452eb12a00.jpg 43-481 on this picture. If i understand correctly there is a check valve but it is on the other side of the line 43-640 that connects to the brake booster. So I can replace this line with just a generic piece of hose. Fuel line or vacuum line. Is there a comparable line that will fit and is pre-shapped? |

/QUOTE] Did you actually try and order one? $27.66 here: Part Number: NC1043481 and looks to be in stock. |
When I replaced mine, I just used some generic rubber hose I had laying around that I bought from McMaster-Carr. Haven't had any issues.

Yep. Been looking for one as well and it's NLA in most places. I was also looking for 43-640 for my MSM. I forget, but i believe one of the two hoses has a restrictor valve/pill in it. II'm assuming any old hose will work and you can just cut out the restrictor valve/pill from one hose to the other?

The intake to firewall piping has a check valve. I bought a generic check valve off of summit racing and brake vaccum hose (thicker than normal vaccum line) to replace,

Make sure you orientate the check-valve correctly. The arrow should point towards the intake manifold.
|
Just went through this on my 95. 43-481 in just a molded rubber hose, nothing fancy past it's shape, it can be replaced with generic tubing. 43-640 is also molded but there's an internal check valve, don't replace that one with plain hose.

I believe Stock is correct, it's different from '90-'2000 vs nb2's

I tired ordering from a different ebay vendor but i was refunded the money today so I guess he didnt have the part.
I'll try the next two places and see. I'll probably just end up with a generic hose. Also as far as I know the other end is still made and sold. |
The check valve should only be in the hose that runs from the IM to the hard line and not in the hose where the booster sits.

The hose off the booster shows this:
Attachment 228268 The hose to the IM does not. Squeeze the two hoses or better yet, blow in them - you'll quickly find out which has the check valve. :) |

I have a 97 and my check valve is in the IM to hard line hose not in the brake booster. Perhaps this hose will fit your NB

It does not matter where the check valve resides as long as it's included between the vacuum produced by intake manifold and brake booster.
If one can't find a hose for the booster side, as long as you have one with a check valve on the IM, should be sufficient. |
oh, I know that but I don't want somebody that stumbles upon this page to accidently replace a hose without them confirming where the valve is.

Good point though, just squeeze the hoses to verify the location. |
Nb's have the valve at the booster and Na's have it at the IM. If you want to replace either of these hoses you need to have reinforced brake booster hose, not some random rubber hose. If you need to delete the cross over metal tube- The dodge srt4/neon hose is cheap and perfect as for length, can be found on ebay. Saves space, weight and looks better imo.
