Resurfacing flywheel if using a used clutch + pressure plate?
 

I know its frowned upon by many but I just bought a used FM stage 2 clutch for cheap. I'm planning on eventually putting it in my car which already has a FM lightweight flywheel.

Pressure plate looks to be solid and friction plate has good life left on it.

So my question is should I resurface the flywheel if im using a clutch that already has some miles on it? Is resurfacing a pressure plate disc a thing? Or should i just clean everything real good and hit it with a scotchbrite? hmmm

It is a fair amount of work to r&r a trans to replace a clutch. I would not reuse a pressure plate and disc. At the min I recommend resurfacing the flywheel and using a new friction disc. I would also replace the pilot and throw out bearing. I have a few transmissions that have worn out input shafts from seized pilot bearings.

See above. Contact flyin miata and see what they can do about selling you just a clutch disk and accessories.

If you want to be cheap and if the pressure plate and flywheel show no signs of glazing, just run it. I have reused clutches before without issues. Do not expect the clutch to last as long as a new one (but this is kind of obvious I guess).

I too have reused clutches with good luck.
A Miata clutch is one of the simpler clutch jobs to do.
I'd replace pilot and TOB unless they were fairly new and appeared perfect.
No heat "spots" on either PP or flywheel surface.
Do not resurface pressure plate. I've never heard of any being resurfaced and you reduce clamping force when material is removed.
If the flywheel is resurfaced make sure the machine shop does a two step job.
They resurface the clutch face noting how much has been removed and remove the same amount from the PP mounting surface.
This keeps clamping force the same.

It is very common to resurface a flywheel. If the same amount of material is removed from the friction and pressure plate mounting surface then the clamping force will be the same.
