rev limter
I have a 90 miata with a 1.6 and i was wondering why the rev limiter is set at 7k rpm? Is it the motor can not rev higher than that without coming apart or something else?
And another thing, what about timing belts, is there a kevlar one, or what else is good? |
Gates makes a performance timing belt for the miata.
Supposedly valve float occurs around 7400-7600 rpm with stock valvetrain. You won't gain much by revving it higher than the stock limiter. |
what if i wanted to safely run up to 8 what would i have to do:eek:

Y?
It does not make any more power stock up there...so y? |
maybe for autox, to save you a 2-3 shift if you can stay in 2nd for 200-300 more rpm?
|
why would you waste all that money for 200-300rpm...why you could buy something else...
