RX7 850cc injectors. PnP?

I havent seen anyone try these yet. The secondary FD injectors are 850cc's and the use the same connectors as the 550's so my question is, why, if not, wouldnt they work?

neogenesis2004 05-05-2010 02:18 PM

probably. would just be hard to find a matching set of 4.

this is very interesting. 850's. if they work they're probably the 1st set of 850's available to us

Rich idle much?

I think the only reason you can use 750s or above is by using newer technology, like RCs, with lower open/close times, to accurately meter for idle.

I had hell just with 550cc RX7 injectors...

People are doing just fine on dw600's and I've heard nothing but great things about the ID1000's.

but I see your point: large injectors from an older car used as secondary set are likely not to be too precise..

or so I think

Really? I never had a problem idling them at 15-15.5

I had zero issue with idle and my 550's. IIRC, to put the 850's on the primary injector housings, you had to machine them a little. That may be the only thing...

May have been a craptastic set, but anything below 1.8ms was like a lightswitch.

If this is a good source for 850s then more power to you big power guys...not trying to rain on the parade. Personally they'd have to be ~$150 to be worth it though. If people are prouder than that I'd spend the extra dough on RCs, DWs, or IDs.

2 things come to mind with the rx7 secondaries.

1. The spray pattern looks like this (on the right):

2. Aren't they side feed?

Edit:NVM, only the primaries were side feed.

If they are low-z then they should have fantastic control. My low-z 550s had an opening time of only like 0.65ms at 14V. Thats almost unrivaled. Much of that has to do with the ability to quickly oversaturate the coil in PH operation though.
