Safe to turbo a n/a motor?

I am new to miata's and dont know much to start off with. I want a old skool miata. Maybe a 92 - 95. I heard those blocks can handle low boost and just wanted to make sure. Ill cut to the chase. I want to know if i can turbo that year with what i believe is a 1.6 and not blow it and also curious if i can, what do i need to back it up and or make the motor handle to low boost. Thanks.

Assuming you are in Canada or the US, '90-'93 Miatas had 1.6L engines, '94 and later Miatas had 1.8L engines.

They're all good for at least 200-225 HP on stock internals, although the differential (specifically the ring & pinion gears) on the '90-'93 cars will break.

Internally? Nothing. They're fine.

Externally? Proper engine management and a good tune.

That said, to Curly do you listen.
