When I shake the tires, the car shakes, and I tried to pull the tires off to no avail. They seem to be on there pretty good, but am I a retard for even attempting this?

miataz 01-20-2008 06:09 PM

Yes and no, do have a car or truck lol would be alot easier or get one of your buddys. Just make sure they dont dent or ruin your trunk. And watch for the cops might be pricks and pull you over.

Al Hounos 01-20-2008 06:13 PM

why are you doing this exactly? you know its ok to drive on your azenis, right?

anyway, you can fit three in the passenger seat and one in the trunk.

chriscar 01-20-2008 06:16 PM

^Not Azeni's, and those f'ers look too wide to go 3x in the passenger seat.

lol

MikeRiv87 01-20-2008 06:17 PM

If you need extra traction in the snow you could just put sand IN the trunk. LOL

Ben 01-20-2008 06:26 PM

I would just put the Azenis on the car. Not like they're R comps.

mr_mazda329 01-20-2008 06:33 PM

Bah... those arent Azenis!!! they are nitto NT-01's DOT R-comps.

Hey, go for it, some miatas have luggage racks and people use them. I say it looks pretty Legit. Like others have said, careful of marks on the trunk by how tight your tie downs are.

cjernigan 01-20-2008 06:43 PM

You could have atleast put the strap on top of the towel instead of letting it wear into your paint man under it all.

Would people be interested in tire tails and hitches if I found I could manufacture them relatively cheaply compared to the Dalan's and whatnot?

chriscar 01-20-2008 06:45 PM

^Does anyone make a trailer hitch that's compatible with the R under-lip?

Al Hounos 01-20-2008 06:49 PM

ok so they're not azenis, but anyway, I've carried 225 hoosiers 3 in the pass seat and 1 in the trunk, so you can probably do it with those too.

What I really want is a class II/III hitch that I could put a Joe Hauler on. Normal trunk + huge box trunk + 4 tires + no 55mm trailer restriction = race setup FTW

What size tire? I can't fit one of them in the trunk :(

225/45-15 Nitto NT-01s

:fm:

I can get 3 of them in the passenger seat, but I still need to carry a backpack and a suitcase back to school with me as well. :vash:

Maybe I will. I have a weird semester schedule, it might get me in the mood to make something like that.
The dalan hit might work with it. I don't know though. I'm sure that question has been asked and answered at m.net.

Why dont you drive on the 6ul's and put the stockers in the seat/trunk? Would you honestly want to loose your brand new tires and wheels on the freeway or your suticase? Plus you will eventually need to break those tires in why not a nice drive back down to SLO?

225/50/14 or something like that. big ol tire. you won't be able to shut the trunk, you have to use a bungee cord.

Ben 01-20-2008 07:58 PM

they didn't look like azenis to me, but someone said it first so I rolled with it. consider putting whatever fits in the pax seat, then mailing whatever personal stuff that won't fit in the car to your dorm/school address. I personally would not be comfortable with that big wall o wheels on the trunk catching air. Plus shipping costs would be somewhat offset by economy. Not to mention pleasantness in driving.

NT01s are kind of expensive to drive on the street. Much more expensive then the all weather $38 tires he has on his daises.

dingdingding. The whole reason for having the all-seasons is to keep the miles off the NT-01s.

my preference is to keep the trunk open, stick a large PVC pipe through 3-4 of the tires (depending on width) and load them into the trunk opening that way. The PVC then gets strapped down - hook on the rear roll bar brace, over the PVC, and down through the grommet in the trunk floor. now hook to the rear baby teeth. Cinch down and those tires are going NOWHERE.

4 195 tires fit fine, but with 225 hoosiers it'll only take 3, one has to ride shotgun.
