Seafoam

Do i use the hole bottle.

cjernigan 09-09-2007 11:32 PM

Use 1/3 through a vac line into the intake. Dump a little in the gas tank.
Not too much though, it makes your car SMOKE LIKE A MF'R. So much that it will actually kill O2 sensors because they get all carboned up.
If i was you, i would actually pull my wideband to do it.

You could also just use water. It will remove carbon from your cylinders as well.

i wouldn't put any in the gas tank. instead, dump in a qt of ATF, and save the seafoam for a 2nd vac line treatment.

cjernigan 09-09-2007 11:35 PM

I've never put ATF in the gas tank.
Work good?

Mach929 09-09-2007 11:36 PM

i don't think you'd want to put that in your gas

cjernigan 09-09-2007 11:38 PM

The bottle says you can put it in your gas. What do i know though. I did it on my truck and it was fine.
What the hell is seafoam? Kerosene or something similar?

I just used this stuff for the first time about a month ago. Through vac. Worked pretty good to eliminate my startup tick. Anybody ever put it in with their oil?

Philip 09-10-2007 12:42 AM

skip it and run a qt of MMO in your crank case :dunno:

rmcelwee 09-10-2007 12:44 AM

On my mother-in-law's 10AE I just hook up a vac hose to the intake mani post TB and suck in 16 oz or so water from time to time. I've pulled a spark plug before and you can see that it is working. Water (steam) rules!

magnamx-5 09-10-2007 12:47 AM

yes water rules Rob but be carefull you don't end up like uncle arthur he lost his engine do to much water i dunno how but it happened.

He probably used a water hose! I spend about 3-4 minutes getting 16 oz in there. Still, that is a good point that we shouldn't forget. You can kill the shit out of your motor by dumping liquid in it.

MMO as in Marvel Mystery Oil?

FWIW, an old pool buddy of mine is also a pretty reputable German car tuner. He swears by MMO, something like once a year run it in lieu of a quart of oil in your oil change. Or if your Miata sits for a season do that.

I do it on every oil change in the heep.
Probably will in the 7 too.

ive used pure water before, ran 2 liters through my 97 over like 10 minutes. got it nice n hot first and opened the idle screw some first.

y8s 09-10-2007 10:37 AM

get a vacuum line and punch about half a dozen 1/16" holes in it that wont get submerged when you stick it in the seafoam bottle. that'll help prevent hydrolock (seafoamolock?) and slow down the suck.
