Default Modifying the clockspring

Put a new steering wheel on and that plastic piece that the wires come out of is hugely in the way. Can I cut that down/take it off without screwing up anything? I still need the wires.

Or you post up what exactly you did and if it solved the problem. That way in the future if someone else has the same questions and searches, they will find out the information from you.

Ill post pictures tomorrow because I have to take the wheel off again.

Basicly there is a square tipped plastic piece that surrounds the horn and airbag wires. Its between 3/4 and an inch long. It fits perfectly into the stock wheel. But it was too long for the wheel Im using (91 rx7). I snapped the piece off and underneath it appears there is a ribbon cable that connects to the wires.

Not my picture. This piece fits into the next image.

This is my picture.
