Selling price for a turbo, built 1.8 NA?
12 Attachment(s)
Losing interest in my Miata and am thinking about selling this thing. I know I'm not going to get back all the money I've put into it, but I have put cash and time into it that I would like to partially recoupe. Car is fully assembled and driven on weekends only (too hot to drive to work + the losing interest thing). Mods are as follows. What would be a reasonable price to start it out at?

Based on my description and crappy pictures, what would you guys consider to be a reasonable price? |

Talk to @BTMiata. He had his car listed recently and it was similar to yours.

|
Yup feel free to shoot me a pm!
|
I'd say 6K depending on location. I've seen them as low as $4500
|

^you are smoking something.

With a built motor, 6-speed, and torsen, hardtop, car looks clean, decent suspension, roll bar, etc...

I bet you could get $8,000 for it, maybe even more to the right buyer.

More deets on the turbo setup? Which manifold is it? Dyno sheets? definitely need engine bay pics and such.

PS if you'd take $4500 for it let me know I'll come get it. haha

|
Sorry but an ebay churbo is worth a couple hundred bucks used. Maybe someone is willing to pay more for a prebuilt car. Maybe 7K with the hardtop.
|
Lol seriously... I had an eBay turbo and I got more than 8k...and no hardtop... Or built motor.
|
Start at $10k obo
|
8-10 is what I'd guess

I'd say $6-7k because most of your parts are quality ones and you have the HT. I think you could get $8-10 with a higher quality turbo and more miles on the build. |
So, a $250 turbo instead of an $800 turbo makes $2-3k difference in price? :m-freak:
You're saying that because this car has an eBay turbo, it's like the shitboxes local to you that also have eBay turbos? |
It makes me question the rest of the build if corners were cut plus it will take time to swap it out when it inevitably fails. Time is money
|
Riiiggghhhttt.....
So anyway did this car ever even actually go up for sale? |
eBay turbos have been proven to last indefinitely when used within their limits. They give up some performance, but no longer is it a huge example of corner cutting.
This isn't 2005. |
Well, don't forget about the low miles on the engine build as well. That's a big risk for a buyer to take and has to be factored into the price. I've heard way too many stories from friends having freshly built motors blow

If you're scared, get a dog... |
So, why are you posting in this thread?
A better question, though, is why the OP hasn't posted more information, or a pic of the engine bay, or anything else. |
