Assuming we are talking about reliable 350whp.

End of thread.

i've been racking my brain over the ls swap since the first day i went to turbo. It just makes so much sense to fork over the cash for a reliable 300 hp + strong 6 speed + gearing that'll get you in to the 150mph world. I enjoy my car very much but don't enjoy red lining at 125ish on straightaways. I also don't enjoy tuning my daily driver or diagnosing problems caused by making almost triple what the car was supposed to make.

however, for 10 grand you can buy a decent condition vette that is probably younger than your NA

true. an ls swap would be cheaper & easier. Alum ford more unique and more fun IMO but not worth the cost...

...unless you have a spare alum ford block lying around muhaha

Do what I did. Keep your eyes on EBay, craigslist, etc. and watch for someone selling an already completed monster. I have seen two Ford 5.0/T-5 setups go for under $10K, and one had aluminum heads. I picked up my LS1/T56 for $12K.

I have more than $12K in my turbo car. I added it all up once. That was a bad idea.

A used Corvette is not too expensive to purchase. But if you are going to race one, they get very expensive very quickly. Price a set of race tires for one and you will see what I mean. Street tires for the vette are more expensive too of course. Plus if you crash it, you are out a lot more money to fix it or replace it. Miata body parts, even a whole chassis, are cheap in comparison. That is one of the nice things about the conversion. Plus you drop 700 lbs or more depending on how race prepped the Miata is.

The only aluminium ford 5.0 blocks I'm aware of are aftermarket, like the dart blocks. When I was building my 88 Mustang GT I looked into aluminum blocks and it was just to much.

Spare me the rhetoric. I was not trying to quantify performance metrics. I was simply stating how people judge a car like that. Sure its fast. Sure its reliable. But it is still makes me want to vomit.

Well...we don't really care if we want to make you vomit with the idea...we don't even know who the **** you are...you didn't even bother to post an intro thread in the meet n' greet section. Hell...we don't even know your goals or why the **** you're here.

Thanks for your opinion...now GTFO.

Your are right, some people. It was just an opinion on my part. I had no idea that it was such a hot button. I thought that it was a legitimate agruement to the pros versus cons discussion. My apologies.

That's right, now leave. You can't be in the cool-kids-club because you're not cool enough, so just leave and play with the Poindexters on the other forum. BTW, nice pocket-protector, homofag.

So you just basically wanted use to say "you're right guy we've never met with unknown background...we should add your completely illogical and outdated philosophy to a list of cons based on PERFORMANCE."

In this day and age of platform sharing...manufacturer doesn't really matter. If Mazda made a V8 that was easy to bolt in I'd consider it...and I'll admit I like that blue Miata the guy shoehorned an individual throttle body Mazda V6 into.

The anemic 4 cylinder in such a superb chassis like the Miata is an insult to the performance minded, thus we won't bat an eye to stuff something else in there.

I see you are one of the bullys on the forum. There were always guys like you in the racing circles. Always running there flappers.

I know I am new to this. I will eventually get to telling everyone what my goals are. My appologies for not doing that.

Cut me some slack. This was suppose to be a discussion on pros and cons. It was my opinion. Back off!
