Should i buy this NB?

Yesterday i met a guy who is selling his NB.

It was the first ride on a 1.8 NB for me... So i couldn't get if everything was perfect... but, one thing in particular left me disappointed... What about this short air intake system?

Is it ok or it's useless and counterproductive?
in case this is counterproductive, is it easy to restore the old configuration?

thanks in advance guys!

PS: Nice start with a wrong thread title xD

About as counterproductive as this reply... As easy as buying 2 parts to bring it back to it's former NB1 glory days. Do your part and search for the answer.

Just a couple things that I notice from this pic:
1) BP4W (99-00)
2) no AC
3) yes ABS
4) radiator doesn't look like it's about to pop
5) aftermarket exhaust header
6) kinda non-optimal air intake
7) firewall has been cut over by the brake reservoir to accommodate a "Randall" cowl CAI

some people opt to relocate the air intake after going to an aftermarket exhaust header, as the aftermarket headers don't have a provision to mount a heat shield. I guess my opinion is that the intake isn't a deal breaker, you probably don't want to go back to 100% stock without some heat shielding, and you could probably do better than both for about the same effort.

Yes! Everything correct. i knew this was the best place where to ask.

4) yes radiator is quite new!
7) yes, good eye!

I'm still undecided on this one or another nb miracle 1.8 quite stock, but cheaper and with the 6 gear transmission

You're comparing a not so great modified miata with no AC to a stock, cheaper, 6 speed miata. What part of that makes you undecided?

I don't necessarily see any deal breakers if you were getting this one for a steal (assuming you live somewhere you can survive with no AC), but I certainly don't see anything that would make me prefer this one over a stock 6 speed car.

this one also mount:
-ebc brakes and pads (yellow).
-Bilstein coilovers with eibach springs
-Recaro (from a lancer evo X) Seats
-Sparco steering wheel with quick release
-complete exhaust system
-Rollbar tr lane

BUT it isn't the color that i prefer, it doesn't have the 6 gearbox, it has a lot of mileage, and has got a damage on the right side that means ---> total respray

The other (stock) is:
-my favourite colour (british green):
-is cheaper
-it mounts a rollbar
-6 speed
-much less mileage (on everything except for chassis) when i say everything i mean engine, gearbox, differential and suspensions)
-but it's fuckin far away from me, and if i go i HAVE TO buy it! :)

honestly while i was writing this message i understood that i'm not gonna buy the first one..... it has already some cool stuff, but i want to build one by myself :)

Go buy the stock one.

Come back when you have plans on what you're going to do with it.
