Default Cant find the notch on the pulley to check timing

Hey guys,

Trying to find the notch on the pulley so that I can check my timing.

Was in the garage but cant find the mark, tried to find by bumping the ignition and also with the gun hooked up...no luck

can anyone explain exactly what I am supposed to look for? anyone have a good picture?

(I checked Miata.net)

Thanks

use a flashlight and physically look on the pulley. once you find it, hit it with touch-up paint or whiteout.

try cranking it (but dont let it turn over) so you can spin the pulley a tad and see all around it, it should be one there, it's a very very small little notch.

Take plug #1 out and stick a long, clean phillips screwdriver in there and turn the crank. Do a couple rotations to make sure that cylinder #1 is at top dead center (not moving up, nor down, and at it's highest point). When cylinder #1 is at TDC, there is a TDC mark on the plastic timing marker, the notch should be right there.
