Silicone hoses not compatible with oil?
Been researching and figuring out what to use for my oil drain line and I've noticed a few websites state that their silicone hoses aren't for use with oil. I thought that was one of the preferred materials for the drain line?
I actually bought one from FM but cut it too short so I'm looking for a cheaper source. |
I got mine from ATP. They sell a silicone oil drain line, so I assume it's good for use with oil.
|
Yeah, I read your thread and others and that's why I assumed it's safe.
Maybe these places indicate the vacuum hoses aren't to be used as oil lines due to thickness... Oh what's ATP? Local parts store? |
raw silicone hoses aren't compatible but those with a fluorosilicone liner are.
regular silicone will absorb the oil and it will seep out. |
That makes sense.
Thanks...oh figured out atpturbo.com... |
ATP turbo is the place you go when you are tired of looking for what you need on the discount sites. They are expensive as shit, but their stuff is high quality and in-stock.
|
shit is cheaper if you PM WideOpenTuning first.

Wow my name is Jesse H too!
|
Besides me, there's another Jesse H on miata.net...unless you're the same creepy stalker.
|
stalker huh? nope that's not me.
|
Is the line you cut made of silicone? If so, why don't you splice it?
