Singular ECU Bracket - Help an Idiot
I’ve screwed around with this ECU bracket every which way I can think of and I have to be missing something stupid, so please help me out.
The top mounting point does not reach the stud. This is a 2004 / NB with the Singular bracket. Arrows in photo show the stud and corresponding mounting point. In the photo the bracket is pushed all the way up as far as it can go and is contacting the metal. It is as if the Singular bracket was made with the large metal tab that juts out to put the mounting hole in half an inch too short, but I see no record of anyone else complaining about this fitment issue so I have to be missing something obvious here, right? (I am aware that in the photo the nut is still on. It’s not relevant since I can’t even get the damn thing to reach the stud.) https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...92ab3c3ac.jpeg |
There’s a relay hanging off that stud too, that needs to be off before the singular bracket goes on. I’ve never tried installing them without removing that first.

I suppose I could trim the metal, but it’s a real pain in the ass given the tight space in there, and the whole point of the Singular bracket is not having to deal with this shit… Do other people’s NB’s not have the same shaped bracket under there? I still feel like I’m missing something here. https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...dbc1622a6.jpeg |
Yes, the metal bracket comes off when you remove the nut holding it on.

It never occurred to me that the bracket comes off, not just the relay. Thank you for shepherding me through this moment of dumb. |

Have you ever stared at something for so long that it ceases to make sense to you?
