It really shouldn't take this long
I've been fabricating this center console for way too long now....... I'm almost done, need to sand and clearcoat it. I wanted to take the center console out because with the aluminum seats bolted directly to the floor it was way too high. I'm making a carpet piece to go down the tunnel and then cover the trunk/gas levers. I'm embarrassed to say how many hours I've spent building this silly little thing...

Made the bends with a cheap HF sheet metal brake. Spent half the time just making the cardboard template. I expanded the basic FM heat shield with the same material. I'm one of those mechanics that likes to think about what I'm building about a billion times before, during, and after it's done. Takes forever! 
BTW, pls excuse the messy workbench, it's not usually this bad....
