So... Exhaust Hangers?
Anyone know offhand what size hangers I would need? I have the original mush balls right now holding up my thick walled 2.5" stainless exhaust and my plumbing is hanging low for it. The exhaust is roughly five times hte weight of the original... or more. I can pick the entire original up myself with no problem, this system (custom welded) is a beast. I was going to get urethane hangers, but I have no clue what size I need, the hangers we used are stock size but I completely forget how big that is. The originals are looking and feeling rather... rotten.

go to advance auto parts. they sell replacement hangers. they are incredibly stiff and do not flex, in fact it takes a bit of effort to even get them in place over the lip of the metal rod. Bonus is they are only $4.

I have the polyurethane hangers,I purchased them through Goodwin Racing, they sure are expensive, but I will never have to worry about the exhaust hangers again, they are also alot stiffer than any rubber hanger.
IMO,they are well worth the money. |
All the miata's I've built exhausts on have 3/8" hangers except EvanK's MSM, that had 1/2" hangers. I don't know if only the MSM's had larger hangers or what.

I got the goodwin hangers as an xmas gift so they were cheap ;) but they work great. I thought they were stiff until I picked up some red ones from eBay and those are VERY stiff.

My assumption was they were the same as the goodwin hangers. The ebay ones aren't on the car, I used an OE hanger for the third spot on the rear of the new exhaust for that reason. It's all cool. :bigtu:

Even if they are stiff, they still move around on the posts....they just don't bend/stretch/fatigue.

does anyone know of exceptionally short hangers I can use on my sister's car? The exhaust rubs the subframe.

This sounds like a craigslist personals ad. |
