Axles, hubs, propshaft, everything.

cjernigan 10-24-2007 06:16 PM

How much $?

Joe Perez 10-24-2007 06:17 PM

$700... and it came in the pumpkin.

Man torsens are f'n expensive. I almost don't want to install mine just because of what they sell for. Almost better off keeping the open and taking my time picking up a clutch type later on with a 3.9 R&P.

firedog25 10-24-2007 06:35 PM

I couldn't pass it up for having all the goodies.

Also, this guy sells that exact set up all the time at that price if anyone is interested.

miataz 10-24-2007 08:27 PM

is this good or is it junk

Junk because 1) the 90 to 93 diffs are small and weak and 2) the vicious diffs act just like open ones after 50k miles or so.. I have 80K miles on mine and its just like a friggen open diff.

miataz 10-24-2007 08:46 PM

aha k so i should prob just buy a 1.8L diff and change everything up?

you need the diff, carrier, halfshafts, and driveshaft (or whatever wording you use that means the same) to convert to a 94+ setup =)

And for a few hundred dollars you could get a 94+ open diff setup which would be much stronger than the 90 to 93, abit still open.

It's a rip-off, as are most things Miata related. 2.5" mild steel downpipe for almost $300? I bought a 3" SS divorced DP for my Talon for $195 and they are pretty similar as far as welds/materials. Anyway, eventually prices will come down on some stuff but I don't think Torsens and hard tops ever will.

miataz 10-24-2007 08:55 PM

aha k thanks because once my turbos done im prob going to blow my rear so im going to have to replace it

I am enjoying my clutch lsd immesnsly. It's been a while, but a previous miata I owned was a 96M w/ the TorsenII. That was a while back ago, plus that car was stock, so direct comparisons are tough. But this clutch lsd seems to have a tremendous amount of lock up in comparison. I get a huge amount of under/over steer with throttle application/lift that wasn't so prevelant in the M or with the viscous. I guess that's for better, for worse though, as oversteer on lift is not forgiving if you're a dumbass.

miataz 10-24-2007 08:58 PM

yea true im still looking for a hard top there dam expensive, cant find one for under 800$ i dont care what condition its in because im getting a paint job but some shit for the miata is a rip, and the stuff that cheap is shit as said:gay:

hustler 10-24-2007 09:38 PM

I just picked up a 4.10 early torsen. I now have an open 4.30 for sale that may have an rx7lsd in it, with early axles.

dumbass or not, snap oversteer scares the shit out of me, and I don't need it in my life.

I trade a tenth for never putting it in the wall.

I'll always tune out as much lift-off oversteer as I can.

That is what I am replacing with my Torsen set up. If you're heart set on a viscous I'll sell you my entire 91 drivetrain with a functioning viscous diff for $200 plus shipping. lol
