So my friend has a spare set of 15x8's just laying around tire-less. He offered them to me, being the gentlemen I am, I plan on getting them and the fender flares on group buy.

Heres the question:

How much rubber can I fit w/o tubbing? I tried to search this out and I didnt seem to find too much. I know I run 205/17/40's now and its close.. but with flares would something like 235-245 be unrealistic? 225 doesnt seem all too large since I run them on my 17x7 IS300 wheels and that isnt too terribly huge.

I beleive a 225/50/15 will fit with out rubbing on a stock car. I think anything larger will require either rolling of fenders or flares. This will also depend on the offset of the wheel, height of the tire and ride height of the car.

depending upon the offset 225/45/15 should work. You may rub a little at complete lock, but won't be a big deal unless you are doing a lot of parallel parking.

if you're doing the flares you should be able to fit 225-245 depending on the offset. You'll most likely have to cut away some of the old fender, but no worries if you're doing the flares.

I ran 16X7's with a 40 offset but a 1" spacer in the rear so a final ET of 15. 5 mins with my slick wheel well roller and no rubbing.

it depends on the offset of the wheels and how low your car sits.

i have 15x7.5 SSR competitions at a +43 offset. the car sits on older FM springs, so it sits LOW. a 205/50/15 grabs the fender lip pretty bad. i have 195/50-15 on them now and it's fine and looks very good.

Just something else to think about besides rubbing against the fenders, at near full lock with wider rubber (again, depending upon lowering/wheel offset) you have to worry about rubbing on the inside against stuff such as IC piping/other suspension components.

Here is pics with my 15X7's with the same 1" spacers in the rear and 195/55/15 tires for reference. No rubbing after minor rolling in the rear.
