I did a quick search and haven't found the info I was looking for. I just picked up a set and was curious if everyone's 501's were the same. They look good and seem pretty light but I noticed the inside face (hub contact point) is not flat. it seems like the center to half the bolt hole surface is deeper than the rest of the face. There is an actuall step showing the surface is not completely flat like all the other wheels I've ever seen.
My concern is that since it doesnt sit completly flush to the hub there is more oportunity for it to move as opposed to it being completly flush to the hub.
Hah, Sorry but I can't thing of any other way to describe it. Anyway my question to other owners / users is, Is this common to sport max?

Has anyone had any issues? Whats the reason for the uneven machining?

Err, I had a feeling no one would understand. - I was talking about the inside of the rim that touches hub of the car where the bolts are. The inside face of the rim (contact surface) is not completly flat, there is a step. Like the inner half of the whole surface is machined deeper than the rest. The step is at the center of the bolt holes so only half of the rim surface is touching the actuall hub of the car.
It just concerns me because the step is right in the center of all the bolt holes so when you tighten the lugs its only tightening the outer half of the surface and may cause something to break due to uneven forces being applied..

no, i can understand what you are saying now. but that shouldnt be a problem. ive had my 501s for about a year and a half. no problems.

it's for that center thing to help balance your wheels out more.... dont ask me how but it does.... i had them for all my 17in wheels before the 16x8 002's..... go to a tire shop and they should tell u what it is.... i forgot the name of that metal ring you put in there

Thansk Badboy, Glad you figured out my brain teaser.. Ahahha. Thanks for the reply and input. what size, width, and offset did you happen to go with? Notice any bad ride issues? Reason I'm also concerned is I have a set of Konig B.Bomb Rims and I'm trying to decide which one I want to sell as I really need the cash to get some other parts.

i am running 195/50/15, 15x8, +15 offset. even with the stretch tire, the fenders are rolled, and they still somewhat rub during a heavy slide. otherwise, no real issues.

Thanks for the reply XxGoKoUxX but I think you misunderstood my question. I'm not asking about the actuall bored out hole which you can put (Hub-Centric Rings) but there is another section after that near the center of the actuall surface of the wheel. This is the first time I've ever seen it on a wheel and I've owned quiet a few which was why I was concerned.

I'm about to go with the same setup and have the fenders already rolled but not completly flat againt the inside panel. I was hopping it would be good enough but I guess I have to find a pipe to do a little more. I also heard you NB guys actually have a little more wheel well clearance so that kind of scares me on my NA. Thanks again for all the input BB.

i'm running 205 40 16 on mine's.... i use to rub until i semi-rolled the fenders.... then again i'm not slammed.... my shocks went out now i believe so it is a bit lower in the front

well it sure fits better than the idiots that run sportmax 002 without any real modifications done to the car. its so ******* ugly.
4x4 look + tire sticking out = epic fail.

+15 offset is perfect. if you use a 0 offset, you would need to pull and roll teh fenders, or just go widebody, to make it even look right.

theres only one N/A guy around here i know that did his **** right by rolling and flaring out his stock fenders and it looks real good with the 002s.

I don't remember seeing what you are talking about. Pics would definitely help out. Mine have been fine though for many miles.

002s +0. 205/50/15 tires. Flared and rolled fenders.

I'll try and get some pics up tomorow. It seems like its a 501 issue only, as rotor and xxg don't seem to follow and both rock 002's.

Car looks great by the way Rotor, I'm just trying to avoid using flares. Oterwise I'd be all over the 0ET's

Any pics XXG? Sounds like your running some wide tires so I'm curious what offset you have and any issues?

I'm running 205/50/15's, 15X8, with a 15et, and was on blown OEM suspension and I only rubbed on hard right turns. I'm lower now so I had to roll the rears a bit but I still rub on the front driver's side. I think it's an issue of body part alignment rather then needing more rolling. :(

i just blew a tire on the freeway today earlier, and i got a more closer look at what you were talking about.

but that shouldnt have no affect. it still holds fine.
