Introducing Donk

96M, 113k, needs some minor things but generally in pretty good shape.

I'll change the wheels out in the next few days. Maybe 'squirt it next week. We'll see if I have any free time.

cjernigan 05-15-2010 09:17 PM

Nice car otherwise. You have wheels for it already?

Ben 05-15-2010 09:29 PM

Of course. :)

levnubhin 05-15-2010 09:32 PM

Nice, so what are your plans for this one?

Nice. Looks good (without the wheels obviously)

Ben 05-15-2010 09:51 PM

I really don't know what I'm going to do with it yet. I have a few other projects to finish before even worrying about that. Right now, believe it or not, I'm actually enjoying a soft, quiet, easy to drive car.

The zipper on the top is fried and the a/c system has a leak somewhere by the radiator. So I'll fix that.

Oh--and here's where you'll make fun of me. It's an autotragic. Yeah, I said it. :dunno: So after we test some ECUs on it, we'll probably manual swap it.

Sounds like a personal problem to me.. :giggle:

Nice find ben, update the pics when you put some different wheels on!

miatamania 05-16-2010 11:24 AM

I'm kinda amazed they actually made miata in autotragics...

jacob300zx 05-16-2010 10:11 PM

Only 1% came that way...lol

he should be able to figure it out, since he does WORK for DIYautotune... figure out how to tune it and it wont run like shit.

na8psi 05-17-2010 01:54 AM

+1, him or brain are pretty much doctrined at the tuning plethora we know as Megasquirt. (not to leave anyone out ;))

jacob300zx 05-17-2010 10:41 AM

Sorry not trying to complain by anymeans or come of that way. Just had alot of wiring issues and sensor problems. Older cars with cooked wiring and faulty sensor can turn tuning into a waiting game for parts.

RotorNutFD3S 05-17-2010 01:33 PM

I recognize that car. Congrats Ben!

Now I need to think up a new name.

https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...1&d=1274137403

And yes, Toyo R1R's are awesome.

Car is surprisingly peppy for a slushbox. The trans does a pretty good job, with exception that it won't kick down easy enough--I'd bet that it's because the EPA had a hand in how it's tuned.

Wouldn't you know that we've been working on an ATX controller. :)

wildfire0310 05-17-2010 10:17 PM

sweet new car.

I am shocked I was called to help you pick up your new car.

levnubhin 05-17-2010 10:20 PM

I have a clutch pedal if you need it.

I figured I called you the last 2 or 3 times so I gave someone else a chance.

When I get some time, I'm going to look up what's involved in the auto/man swap in an OBD2 car. I'm not a big fan of codes.

First I want to 'squirt it as-is with the auto, for the learning experience. We also have an ATX controller to test out...
