Something happened to my alternator or my MS3... high voltage followed by not chargin

Drive to work this morning, no issues at all. Car was running great life is good. 4 hours later I go out to the car, fire it up and after an initial first second of no drama it is suddenly feeling like it’s running on 3 cylinders and pegged full lean.

well the feeling reminded me of what the engine would do when setting up vvt, so I decided to disable vvt. Car now runs fine but wideband is still showing full lean except for when it does it’s initial boot up (13.3 then 16.6). Wideband also shows 10ish while cranking but as soon as it fires off it shows full lean (while running perfectly normal).

Cautiously drive the thing home at this point since it feels just fine, then I realize that the bat voltage on mega squirt is reading 17-18. Also whenever I’d press throttle there was a relay click noise, airbag would flash and radio would turn off.

i get home and as I expected the battery is hot and smells weird. Go to the alternator and the nut is gone and the main wire is just kinda loosely chillin on there.

current situation is that the batter reads 12.2 ish, car starts fine and runs with vvt enabled again, afr still reads full lean. Battery light is now on in the cluster and car running has the 12.2 voltage that it has when not running. Disconnected main wire from alternator, start the car and alternator terminal is outputting 5v, which to my understanding is what it’s supposed to be.

any guidance greatly appreciated
