speakers and such

hello all!

premice: My 99 miata had the 2 stock crapity crap speaks so I got some nicer ones along with some 6x9s that I installed in the tray thing behind the seats using an aftermarket head unit

I just have a question for yous.

What would cause the rear speakers mid range speaker to work, but not the tweeter?

thanks!

Wire broken between the tweeter and the rest of the speaker? Blown tweeter? Blown internal crossover?

A big problem is some stereos send only mid frequencies to some speakers.. they use filters to cut off high frequencies to the said speaker similar to the way amps for subs cut mids and high frequencies to the subs.

So that said not sure what stereo u're running but you might want to check to see if theres a filter somewhere along the way.

Yup, look for a low pass filter (LPF), some units even have it under different names. Sony has an option where it will only send bass to the rear speakers they have some different name for it, you might have to look into the manual.
