Default special edition base model?

Never posted here before, but Ive been lurking around for a while. Just picked up a 94 that I'm pretty sure is base model. No power steering, no a/c, no power windows, no power mirrors, and came with steelies on it. The passenger side door sticker says "SPECIAL EDITION" on it, and I cant find anything about what the hell it means. Anybody have any ideas?

Photo of door sticker? In any case if you call Mazda customer service they actually will give you a lot of detail on the car if you give them the VIN. I did it once to verify a R model before I bought it sight unseen because it was stupid cheap and didn't want to risk missing it.

Sounds odd. At first I thought R package but the steelies drove me to base model.

Welcome to the site.

The R is the only special one that came without all the power stuff, but it also didn't come with steelies. That's not to say somebody hasn't swapped the wheels in the last 18 years.

Be sure to check inside the door for signs of paint or having been replaced. Also check the shocks to see what they are. Does it have an LSD or open diff? Check the vin numbers on the motor, dash, door, and body.

Not sure if it has an LSD or not, havn't opened up diff yet. All the VIN's match. They look like stock shocks to me.

It looks like if it were a special edition, it would say so BELOW that heading. I think you've got a base '94 there.

why the hell did you blur the VIN? That's the one thing we could have used to figure out what the hell kind of car you have.

He's worried about identity theft. Any one of you could impersonate his car, and clean out it's checking account.

I think mine also has special edition written like that and it is a base model... I am guessing they all do.

That makes some sense to me. Like I said, I have had eight but never a base.
